Handwritten mail, every month

A letter from me, every month. Written by hand.

I’m Nikki. Once a month I sit down and write to a small circle of people, in ink, on cards and paper I choose, with stamps I love, and mail it all from the California high desert. Join, or give it to someone who would love to find real mail in the box.

From $10 a month. Cancel any time. A small club of 30.

Nikki bent over her notebook in a red robe, a candle and her glasses on the table.

That’s me at my table, by candlelight. Every piece of mail is written right here, by this hand.

Hi, I’m Nikki. This is me.

I live in the high desert with two dogs and a houseful of plants. I collect stamps, press flowers, draw in my notebooks and still write in cursive. Real mail in the box is the happiest thing I know, so I make some every month. More about me

A notebook page of her colored-pencil wildflowers, a sunflower and a pink coneflower, 'Last bit of summer' written below.

Two national park postcards, Bryce Canyon and Zion, held up at a blue mailbox.

Pick your club. I’ll do the writing.

Every month I choose what to write about, pick the card and the stamp, and write it all by hand. You just open the mailbox.

Join by the 10th and your first one is in the mail by the 20th. Join later and it goes out with next month’s. US postage is included; outside the US it adds $3 a month. Cancel any time from your account.

Give someone real mail. For a few months, or a year.

Choose 3, 6 or 12 months and pay once. The first one tells them who it’s from, then a new piece arrives every month until the gift is done. No renewal, nothing to cancel.

  • A grandchild learning to read cursive
  • A friend who moved far away

What arrives. Whatever I’m loving that month.

I choose what to write, so no two months are alike. A Letter Club envelope also carries a small treasure: a pressed flower, a sticker, a bookmark.

  • Petals laid out to press on paper: bougainvillea, a pansy, nasturtiums.

    Blooms

Whatever is flowering, sometimes pressed and tucked inside.

  • Two national park postcards, Bryce Canyon and Zion, held up at a blue mailbox.

    National parks

Canyons, forests and the places I’d drive a day to see.

  • Her drawing of a hummingbird in blue ink and colored pencil, 'Welcome friends' written beside it.

    Birds and wildlife

The hummingbirds at my window, and whoever else visits.

  • Pale bougainvillea spilling over a pink wall.

    Life in the desert

Heat, light, color, and the plants that love it here.

  • Alstroemeria in an amber jar on her table, candles lit beside little pumpkins.

    The seasons

Pumpkins in the fall, a candle lit, the first warm day.

  • Her card of 'Words I think sound cool': Egads! Chuffed! Wrapped up like a kipper!

    Words I love

Egads, chuffed, and the odd phrase I can’t stop saying.

  • Sheets of stamps: fruits and vegetables, Bugs Bunny, and postcard stamps.

    Stamps

I pick a stamp for every piece. Some months it’s the best part.

  • A 'Greetings from California' postcard with a paper butterfly, propped on a mossy log.

    Greetings from

Old-style postcards from wherever my wandering goes.

Questions I get asked.

Anything else, just write to me. I answer every email myself. hello@nikkisnotes.com

What comes in the mail?
In the Postcard Club, one postcard a month, decorated by hand, with a stamp I chose for it ($10 a month). In the Letter Club, a letter a month with a small treasure tucked inside: a pressed flower, a sticker, a bookmark ($20 a month).
Who decides what you write?
I do, and that is the fun of it. National parks, life in the desert, the seasons, what is blooming, the birds at my window, the night sky. Tell me a little about the person when you join and I’ll keep them in mind.
Is it really written by hand?
Every letter, in ink, on paper. No fonts, no printing, no machine holding the pen. I pick the card and the stamp too.
When does it arrive?
I write the month’s mail in one sitting. Join by the 10th and your first one is in the mail by the 20th; join later and it goes out with next month’s. You’re charged the day you join, then on that date each month.
Can I give it as a gift?
Yes. Choose 3, 6 or 12 months, paid once, and it simply ends when they’re done. No renewal, nothing to cancel. The first one tells them it’s from you, and I don’t need their email, only where to mail it.
How do I cancel?
Any time, from your account under Manage. You keep the month you’ve paid for and its mail still goes out; after that, nothing more is charged. There are no partial refunds.
Can you mail it abroad?
Anywhere in the world. US postage is included; outside the US it adds $3 a month for postage.
What is the Pen Pal club?
You write back, and I answer every letter myself ($35 a month). It opens once my mailbox for your replies is set up. Join the waitlist and I’ll write when it does.
Why is there a waitlist?
I write every piece myself, so the club holds 30 members. When it’s full, join the waitlist; when a spot opens I email the next person a link that holds it for three days.

Your mailbox is waiting.
